Quality of Light | Landscape Photography
My aim is to find moments when Mother Nature paints a painting, and not much postproduction is necessary to make her artwork visible. You just need to be there, to see it, and manage to capture the essence.
Egyptian Geese over Ngorongoro, Tanzania
It was a cold morning on the crater rim of Ngorongoro crater, and we had to wait on the top because another offroad-vehicle had got stuck in the mud and blocked the road. It was the moment when a flock of Egyptian Geese flew by.
Rauðisandur Beach, Iceland
Some pictures you can't plan. You can't even pre-conceive them – they hit you by surprise, a sudden, heavenly gift. I was driving my Suzuki Jimni over the gravel road towards famous Rauðisandur Beach in the drizzling rain, when suddenly Rauðisandur appeared after a curve, and the sun broke through and kissed the wet sand of the beach. One of my all-time-favourite photographs.
Early Morning Arrival
It was one of the miraculous mornings of March 2021 when I was working from the Canary Islands. The house where we were staying was situated a few hundred meters above sea level and about a kilometer away from the local airport, so around 6:30 h there was a chance to capture the incoming early morning arrival against a backdrop of dramatic seascape – a photographers's dream come true. This image to me conveys wanderlust: A strong inspiration to pack a bag and go to travel and explore the world.

Clouds over Ngorongoro
I was recently asked which was a recent view I had that I would call absolutely breathtaking. The answer came easy: The view into the Ngorongoro crater in Tanzania. But once you are inside the crater, it doesn't stop. This view shows the color range from fresh green grass to the bright pink of the Flamingos to the more blueish hues of the crater rim and the clouds above – a view that draws the eye to explore the depth of the land up to the horizon.

Summer Rain in the Desert
I spent a few days in a private Bedouin camp in Wadi Rum, Jordan where a good friend used to go to ride her camels. We took a tour around the Wadi when suddenly the clouds burst and a summer rain soaked the desert. Just after the rain had stopped, the water began to evaporate. Our host Bedouin was just as perplexed and happy as we were, because it seems to be very rare occurrence at that particular time of the year.

Summer Sea View, Norway
I had spent the summer of 2019 with my daughters in Norway, mostly hiking and traveling. Towards the end of the holidays, we settled down in a beautiful house by the sea with an mini-peninsula as a backyard, reaching into the bay. Sitting in this "backyard" with a cup of coffee was an experience of deepest serenity and peace.
Diani Beach, Kenya
One of the most beautiful and famous beaches in all of Africa, definitely of mainland East Africa.
Ngorongoro, View from Ascent Road
After spending the first half of the day with wildlife photography inside Ngorongoro Crater, one last look down while on our way out on the ascend road. Ngorongoro crater to me looks like a land that time forgot, almost like a Garden of Eden.
Water Color Sunrise
La Palma. It was one of the miraculous mornings of March 2021 when I was working from the Canary Islands. Sunrise, clouds and rain painted an ever changing scenery over the Atlantic ocean, every morning, every minute with a new spectacular view that left me inspired and grateful.

Calima Sunset
The Calima is a sand- and dust laden wind coming to the Canary islands from North Africa and the Sahara: Basically a far-reaching dust storm. It can reduce the visibility down to nearly zero, but it also make for trance-like, magical perspectives, like this one seen from the road to Masca in the west of Tenerife. The image was taken during my nomad-month in the Canary Islands, March 2021.
